Mark Ligon is the Vice President of Safety and Risk Management for the Vecellio Group, Inc.  In this role, Mark is responsible for employee safety & health and Risk Management programs, including program development, insurance acquisition & risk transfer strategies, claims & litigation management, as well as environmental compliance activities.  The Vecellio Group is a fourth-generation, family-owned and operated business providing a wide range of heavy/highway, mining, and energy services and products to our valued public- and private-sector customers throughout the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States and beyond.

Throughout his career, Mark has implemented innovative safety initiatives that harness technology such as tablet-based hazard recognition and corrective action tracking processes, smartphone apps to manage employee safety communication, daily health assessments, job hazard analysis, and the delivery of toolbox trainings.  One of his main goals is to develop a zero-accident safety culture by increasing the Safety IQ of the workforce through innovative methods that keep the safety message fresh and consistent at all employee levels.

Prior to joining the Vecellio Group, Inc., Mark served as Corporate Director of Risk & Safety for Carpenter Contractors of America, a leading full-service shell contractor, material supplier and housing component manufacturer in the United States.  He has over 20 years of experience overseeing safety, risk, environmental and claims management programs in the construction, mining, energy services and manufacturing industries.

Throughout his career, Mark has been an active member of several industry and community organizations to include the Florida Transportation Builders Association Safety Committee (current co-chair), AGC – Florida East Coast Chapter Safety Committee (Past Chair), Safety Council of Palm Beach County (Board Member), West Central Florida Safety Alliance (Founding Member), and the Tampa Area Safety Council (Board Member).  He also currently serves as a subject matter expert for the American Road & Transportation Builders Association’s Safety Certified Transportation Project Professional testing curriculum.

Mark graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Central Florida.  He currently holds several certifications, such as Associate in Risk Management, Certified Risk Manager, Professional in Human Resources, and various other certifications in safety management.
